The Ford Transit is one of the most successful vans around, and for that reason, we named it the Auto Express van of the year for 2013. Ford has sold two million Ford Transits in the UK since it first appeared in 1965, and in this video review, we find out why.
It's incredibly versatile and can carry very long items, with an access hatch to the bulked helping to increase the length of that van. There're plenty of handy tethers throughout the van, and handy, bright LED lamps are made available as an option, too.
Inside, the cabin looks like that of a car, and the design even resembles the Ford Fiesta. The seating position is good, with lots of room for adjustment with the steering wheel and driving seat.
It only comes with one engine - it's a 2.2-litre diesel. However, you can get three different states of tune, there're a 100bhp, 125bhp and 155bhp models. It's efficient as well, with economy ranging between 39mpg and 42mpg.
Overall, it's a great drive, very safe, and there's a full-length bulkhead which helps keep noise down on the motorway. The downsides are that it doesn't come with a lockable gearbox as standard, but despite this, it's a great all round van. Watch the video review and see what you think.
