New Honda Civic saloon: UK prices and specs revealed
Hitting showrooms in August, the Honda Civic is on the verge of spawning a four-door saloon variant
Honda has bolstered its Civic line-up by adding a new four-door saloon to the range, and now full UK prices and specs for the new arrival have been announced.
Unlike the hatch, the saloon will be built in Turkey and shipped to the UK. It’s based on the same platform as the five-door and will be available with the same range of engines, including a 128bhp 1.0-litre i-VTEC three-cylinder turbo, 1.5 petrol and 118bhp 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel. The petrol cars get a choice of six-speed manual or CVT auto boxes, while the diesel is also available with a nine-speed automatic.
Over the hatch, the saloon features a more conventional design; the rear end in particular is more restrained with a simpler rear bumper design. There are no shots of the cabin but the interior will be adopted directly from the hatchback.
On sale next month, SE, SR and EX grade cars are available. The starting price of the Civic saloon is tagged at £19,395 for the SE 1.0-litre VTEC Turbo petrol mated to the six-speed manual gearbox. SE cars come with a suite of safety kit including forward collision warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control.
SR and EX cars are £21,240 and £24,100 respectively, with CVT cars commanding a £1,400 premium. SR boasts rain sensing wipers, dual-zone climate control, parking sensors and a rear parking camera. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard. EX boasts leather, keyless go, LED light and wireless phone charging.
For diesel buyers, the 118bhp 1.6-litre i-DTEC car kicks off from £20,745, again for the SE version. SR and EX will set buyers back £22,590 and £25,450, with an automatic gearbox a £1,670 extra on the options list.
