V-reg Petrol, Owner for Less than a year

My car suits me perfectly & i'm glad because I spent months choosing a car. I'm very picky about my car I like to keep it clean & everything working. I use it day in day out to commute to work everyday. It has total reliability whilst being rather sporting & stylish to look at, It always stands out from the crowd. It has a VTEC engine which gives great fuel economy, & fantastic performance from only a 1.6. The interior is well built & hard wearing & all the controls at in easy to reach places. For only a small 3 door hatchback is has huge amounts of space inside the cabin with plenty of storage locations.

The best about the car though is the smile it puts on my face whenever I get in it, & go for a drive just for the fun of it.

I paid a lot o extra money to have the best alloy wheels option sand image pack.I bought Honda because of residuals and reputation for quality. The dealer hasn't managed to stop the dashboard/windscreen rattle in 3 years. Also the alloys started to bubble and Honda are now fighting a warranty claim because the wheels have some kerbing. How this could be connected to the bubbling issue in the middle of the wheel rims is a mystery. and they won't explain why. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. Both my Hondas are due for replacement and they won't be getting my custom at a time that dealers need to shift metal.

Civic Type R is a lot of car for the money. It's not the most comfortable on longer journeys but that's not what I think it's best at, or designed for. For a hot-hatch it's very practicle, I can get my mountain bike in the back (and now push chair too). Also it has ISOfix - something not all 'family' cars have as standard. Excellent fun to drive, even after nearly 5 years of ownership. Would I change it? If I can find anything with the same amount of fun/power/drivability/cheap servicing costs maybe...

07-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Slipping clutch at less than 30,000 miles - told due to excessive wear but will not be coverd under warranty, hard suspention, knocks and creaks had to have new break pads all round before 30,000 miles. Bad blind spots due to front windscreen pillar thickness. Rear window has no wiper and though self clearing it only clears at speed so no use for reversing out of th edrive in a morning or from a car park.
Nice styling, lovely dashboard, very flexible rear seats very willing engin and fuel economy not bad.

Cost: 3/5
2008-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

I've had one instance where the car completely broke down and was not drivable due to it losing the memory for the gear selection so it was stuck in reverse gear, which means on this car that you cannot even start the engine. The reason I am not getting great fuel economy is because of the type of driving I am doing, ie mainly short journeys in traffic. when I use it on a roads or motorways it is very economical.

Has just passed it's mot clear!in the 11 years I have had it. harry honda has been wonderful.have only ever had to have tyres changed.1 x new battery1 x new alternatorgreat reliable car, despite some lumps and bumps now. Just need to replace some front lights. other than my mot and those other bits which needed to be replaced, the biggest expense is petrol and tax - which increases every year regardless.

Beautiful engineerd deign with a great engine and gear box...50mpg and sub 9sec 0-60mph...brillant dash...speedo brilliant for quick change to km from mph..handy for regular trips into km southern ireland..from NI...so reliable and those magic seats are increditable
for space...no aeriel is handy for garage parking....heated leather seats..are now an essential luxury!

Has covered 125k miles ......so reliable like the mercedes e class it is probably over engineered.....I tested a new civic....in co parison ...my engine and gearbox as slick as new. My only expense in almost 7 years has been petrol...no oil needed between services, tyres and brake pads......I have a quick fit deal that replaces pads for life as long as I own car.

54-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

I have had problems with the starter motor and Mass Air Flow sensor, which the dealer fixed very quickly under the extended warranty. The Civic is roomy, comfortable and easy to drive. It cruises well on motorways and still manages to be enjoyable to drive on country roads, while returning a real-world average of 46 mpg even with my heavy right foot.

Cost: 5/5
2002-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

We have never had a breakdown, it has sailed through its mot on both occasions that I have put it through, we have only ever had 1 puncture and even at that it gave us enough time to get to a garage to have it repaired. Mainly just putting ł40 of fuel or sometimes ł60 a month apart from that nothing else oh a full valet ł20 a month.

Cost: 5/5
06-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

Styling still stands out though possibly dating. Lots of interior room for size of car. Not a drivers car, interior plastics cheap and mark easily. On plus side I have had some excellent service from the dealer. Shame I don't like the car - looking forward to changing it this year - it's not been an enjoyable 4 years!

Cost: 3/5
56-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

I think my Honda Civic is quite a good car, thou I always said that it should have a rear wiper. I'm looking forward to the next Civic that is suppose to be coming out, I read in your magazine (Auto Express) in August 08 that a new Civic modle was in the pipe line, but I'm still waiting.

Cost: 5/5
2002-reg Petrol, Owner for more than 5 years

I have a highly modified car and its just done 127k miles and never missed a beat. Well I can get 400 miles out of a tank if im careful (ł62 a tank on super unleaded) but if I drive it like it was designed to be driven then I will be lucky to see 250 miles.

Cost: 3/5
2005-reg Petrol, Owner for more than 5 years

I am pleased to say that it has never let me down although I have only done 44,000 miles since new - and it still looks like new. I had it serviced at the honda main agent until the ghuarantee expired and have it serviced each year at a local garage.

Cost: 5/5
2006-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Had it for a year, service was breese, the only issue was with a faulty a/c relay that I changed myself for ł20. The car is not very economical and honda parts are known to be expensive. however besides a relay I hadn't no mechanical problems.

Cost: 3/5
57-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Absolutely nothing has gone wrong with the car since I purchased it 18 months ago, having covered 18000 miles. It is quick, practical and economical, averaging 51 mpg in that time. The only downside is the excessive roadnoise on poor surfaces.

Cost: 5/5
2009-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

No problems to date, mechanically sound and drives perfectly since day one. Very economical for a petrol, managing 49 mpg on a long motorway run. can be expensive on fuel when driven hard due to it being a vtec engine even though its a 1.4.

Cost: 4/5
06-reg Diesel, Owner for Less than a year

FABULOUS car - immensely practical and economical - let down by poor electrics and intransigent manufacturer. Power steering ECU failed during warranty and again just out of warranty. Manufacturer refused warranty / goodwill repair.

Cost: 5/5
1999-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

I have never had a problem with this car or my previous honda civic. it starts every time. I don't know the mpg but it is very economic and with regards to spare parts has only ever needed (so far) things like wiper blades.

Cost: 5/5
2006-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Car is 6 years old and still feels like a brand new engine and gearbox. wouldn't expect less from vtec. I know there is better economical cars to be had but I think the car is a good compromise for performance and economy.

Cost: 3/5
2007-reg Petrol, Owner for less than a year

Owned the car for 5 months so far with no problems. Obviously due to the car being very sporty the mpg is not great. as I don't drive it too much then this isn't too much of an issue. if I used it daily then it would be!

Cost: 3/5
2010-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Going by my previous honda accord that I had for ten years with out letting me down once. I think that is a good reason why I've another honda. All cost are within the warranty period and extra three year payment plan.

Cost: 5/5
2007-reg Petrol, Owner for less than a year

No problems as of yet, however uses more than other cars owned. think this is due to vtec burning oil. Fuel is expensive as the car drinks alot, however a common car so parts are fairly priced.

Cost: 3/5
2004-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Great car, only had to replace wear and tear items. doing work privately means parts are inexpensive. Great mpg, averages around 50 around town. can get 70mpg by sitting at 60mph on motorways.

Cost: 4/5
52-reg Petrol, Owner for More than 5 years

Very pleased with the car, it still has its original exhaust after 7 years and 99000 miles! Aircon heat exchanged is leaking and needs replacing but I haven't got around to doing it yet.

Cost: 5/5
07-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Outstanding package with exceptional style and a good driving experience. The only criticism would be the paint has a tendency to
chip and lack of proper spare wheel as standard.

Cost: 5/5
2004-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Had no issues other than wear and tear items. Had to change headlight due to minor accident, and had to buy through honda directly as no replicas made which was very expensive.

It's a honda. its immense, it laughs at bmw's. Not cheap to run, it drinks fuel like it has a lead addiction. road tax pretty steep & servicing from honda is a joke.
