New 2017 Hyundai i10 facelift to start from £9,250

New Hyundai i10 gets an updated face and new infotainment technology on range topping models

Hyundai has announced full launch prices and specs for its facelifted 2017 i10, which will go on sale in January.

The new city car will start from £9,250 for the basic i10 S, which gets a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with 65bhp mated to a five speed manual gearbox. The increased price tag means that the new i10 costs more than rivals like the Volkswagen Up!, Seat Mii and the Kia Picanto

Above S level cars will be models in SE trim from £10,500. These models will get air conditioning, cruise control, Bluetooth, DAB radio and a suite of driver assists as standard, and a second engine is also available – a more powerful 1.2-litre four-cylinder with 87bhp – which can be fitted with a four-speed automatic gearbox.

The cheapest Premium line model starts from £11,200, while range topping Premium SE cars are priced at £12,800 upwards, introducing a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen screen.

The infotainment system features Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as its own sat-nav system. Cars fitted with the system get a free seven-year subscription to a real-time traffic, speed camera and weather information service. Buyers will also get new colour options for the upholstery.

Safety kit on the new Hyundai i10 includes a front collision warning system, and a lane departure warning, both using a new front-mounted camera. The systems can sound an alarm to alert the driver if the sensors detect danger. Other equipment available on the i10 includes air-conditioning, a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, 14-inch alloy wheels and LED daytime running lights. The new model also gets some revisions to the steering ratio.

The most noticeable change is the updated grille. Hyundai calls it the cascading grille, and it’s set to appear on all future models from the Korean brand. It’s bigger and more defined than the current style, and there’s new front bumper design to match. A black section on the rear bumper, new fog lights and different-shaped side mouldings complete the exterior makeover.

There are no changes under the bonnet - both the 1.0-litre and 1.25-litre petrol engines remain the only choices. There’s a five-speed manual gearbox as standard, with a four-speed automatic also available. An efficient BlueDrive version is focused on saving fuel, and produces 93g/km CO2.
