US off-road giant Jeep received hate mail from fans when it took the wraps off the current-shape Cherokee 4x4 in 2001, design chief Trevor Creed has revealed.
"Our reaction was to go back to the Jeep formula," he explained. The next-generation Cherokee, which is due in showrooms here in 2008, will revive the boxy styling of the Nineties model.
