Lambo limo’s green light

Audi confirms stunning Estoque is back in the pipeline based on A9 luxury coupé.

Move over, Aston Rapide – the Lamborghini limo is on the way!

The Italians’ fast, edgy Estoque is back on the cards after senior executives at owner Audi threw their support behind the four-door supercar last week.

Lambo first revealed the
model at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, before putting it on the back burner. But now, senior sources at the German marque have stated that the Estoque is exactly what Lamborghini needs to more than double sales, and gain financial independence.

But Audi has done more than simply comment on the Estoque. By unofficially confirming plans
for its own A9 limo-coupé, it has
also given Lamborghini the
perfect production chassis.

Our source confirmed: “Designing a supercar from a clean sheet of paper is one thing, but a limousine that people
will drive to work every day...
well, that’s a different thing,
and Lamborghini doesn’t have the resources to do it by itself.”

“[Lamborghini boss] Stephan Winkelmann has said the brand needs a third model to give it a product cycle with fewer gaps.”

The super sedan is likely
to be offered with V10 and V12 engines, and will have the Italian maker’s usual all-wheel drive.

Am I alone in thinking that the designers at Lambourghini need to learn how to draw curves? The back end looks truly grim, it's straight lines everywhere - somewhat similar to that abomination from the 80s, the Aston Martin Lagonda...

@ajjm65: my exact thoughts. It looks a bit harsh for today's straitened times.

Or would you have preferred it to be curvatiously fat like the Panamera.

Now, now, Chickenfeed - I'm just expressing an opinion! I just think that the unbridled awe surrounding the Estoque is a case of the Emperor's clothes.

And are Lamborghini running out of catchy names for their machines? Gallardo, Murcelago, Sesto, Estoque?!

I hope the confirm & greenlight stays on. Some Lambo fan will want a Lamborghi with 4 seats.

You have to go back a good few decades to remember a Lamborghini with curves!! All their recent cars have been about angular lines and polygonal shapes. Unless they're about to change their "design language" this is just what I'd expect a Lambo Limo to look like.

I admire Lambo and Audi too for letting Lambo get on and do what they do best. However, this is not Lambo's best by a long chalk. It looks like a refugee from the Gerry Anderson 1970's classic sci-fi series, UFO.

Straight lines and angles work on Lambo sports cars, but this is meant to be a cosseting luxury limo not a 70's spaceship.
