2009-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

The car has done 28,000 miles and is/remains faultless.it has never let me down in any way or ever failed to start regardless of the temperature. I have it serviced by maltings independent land rover specialist. they are the original landrover specialist in yorkshire and charge at least 50% less for labour that main dealer whom I bought it from.fuel is in my opinion excellent for a vehicle of this type. over the last 600 miles I have averaged 34.4 mpg. mostly that has been local a and b class roads. spare parts - the only cost I have incurred is the replacement of all 4 tyres. 2 x rear at 25,000 miles (still had 3-4 mm left) and 2 x front at 26,000 miles (still had 3-4 mm) however the car drives much significantly better on new tyre's. the rear pair cost me ł254.78 fully fitted in october 2011 and the front pair cost me ł294.60 fully fitted in august 2011 as you can see the cost of the tyre's has increased recently.

2007-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

I had the car as a company car from new then bought it in febuary of this year. in total I have covered over 103,000 miles and it has never let me down. it failed to start once and that was due to a phone charger I left plugged in which drained the battery so I dont count that. As it was a company car it did not cost me anything. since I have owned it I have only needed to put fuel in the car. the next service is due in january 2013.

Some recalls and warrenty repairs in the early days were resolved quickly but at 49000 mls. a new diff unit had to be fitted not good !after all if a land rover will not withstand routine towing etc. the design team need a make over! Main dealer prices, relative to what the standard service costs is not value for money.

07-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Excellent build quailty, with no faults (yet !) Great driving position and very comfortable. Boot is limited, but good with seats folded flat.
More economical than I thought (given it;'s size and weight) and pulls well.

Servicing intervals are good, but expensive items such as Brake pads.

Cost: 3/5
2007-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Problems with automatic wipers not switching off resulting in having to remove the fuse. engine has cut out on 2 occasions now unexpectedly and with no apparent reason. Fuel efficientcy is poor and fuel is expensive. repair labour rates are expensive, parts seem reasonable.

Cost: 2/5
-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Practical vehicle with 4x4 capability which I need for business and our Home location.
Present car with 70k on the clock averages 38mpg.
The replacement should be in mid 40s mpg and has lower RFL.
Has 3 year umlimited warranty and vehicle assist, plus made in England.

Cost: 3/5
2004-reg Diesel, Owner for less than a year

Never been let down by it so far, however, due to age and mileage certain maint jobs starting to present themselves for attention. Due to popularity of brand there is a wide range of companies dealing in aftermarket parts/spares, possible to shop around for best prices.

X-reg Diesel, Owner for More than 5 years

I'm diasbled and the car is automatic which makes life easier for me. I am dissapointed that for a large car it has a small interior carrying capacity. The best thing for me is the 'wading depth' of the freelander as I often have to travel flooded lanes in Cornwall

Cost: 3/5
2011-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

No issues whatsoever. I do not get it serviced at a main dealer and it had battery charging issues because I did not have the software updated so I don't count this as a breakdown issue. Its superb, tyres are looking like 35,000 miles and nothing else required yet.

Cost: 5/5
2004-reg Diesel, Owner for less than a year

I have only had it a month so hard to make an opinion on this, I have had a couple of things that needed doing but as expected for that year. The mpg is pretty good for a 4x4, the parts I have been buying from the internet and not the land rover dealer.

Cost: 3/5
2008-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

Had a gearbox and differential bearing replaced under extended warranty, but the car has never let me down. I've done 87000 miles since I bought the car. 30 mpg is poor - previous car (bmw 525d) achieved 36 mpg. dealer servicing costs also quite high.

Cost: 3/5
07-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

An internally light and airy executive 4x4 with the world's best sound sytem reliably carrying people smoothly on roads and sure-footedly off-roads with surprising pull and economy whilst having the aerodynamics of a perfectly formed house-brick.

Cost: 5/5
2011-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

The satnav had a strange turn once, had to turn the car off/on to reseteverything else works first time, every time. Better than expected, not as good as the 'combined mpg' or even the 'urban mpg' (knew this before I brought it).

Cost: 4/5
2000-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

My car as never let me down it is 100 percent reliable and it will stand any test. Ok my car is a freelander and yes it's not the most economical car on the planet but to me I think that my car is excellent on diesel.

Cost: 5/5
2010-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Apart from a couple of minor niggles, the car has been very reliable. Only disappointment is the achieved mpg which is a lot worse than the published figures. (I know it always is but this is worse than expected).

Cost: 3/5
2008-reg Diesel, Owner for less than a year

Had 5 flat batterys since purchase in january 2012, alternator was changed from warranty after a visit to a different land rover garage, battery has been flat since change once so far. Diesel is really expensive.

Cost: 2/5
2007-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Very good. no minor niggles. only not rated 5 because of rear bearing failure which required replacement of differential - covered by warranty. Mpg figure is good considering over half of driving is urban.

Cost: 4/5
2002-reg Diesel, Owner for more than 5 years

Even in the coldest weather it has always started frist time. it has only broken down on the road once when the thermostat failed. The price of spares is the only reason I have not rated it higher.

Cost: 3/5
2007-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Has been without problems for over 43,000 miles - I'm so relieved! Manufacturers mileage is a total waste of time - mine is 12mph outmain dealers are expensive and sometimes arrogant.

Cost: 2/5
2002-reg Diesel, Owner for more than 5 years

It has always been serviced and with 127500 miles on the clock has only let me down once (fuel pump). Parts and service are expensive in comparison to the average family car.

Cost: 2/5
2009-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Never misses a beat. At ł500 for the 3 year service is steep, but the dealer did a pick up and drop off service and valeted the car before returning it. so not bad really.

Cost: 2/5
58-reg Diesel, Owner for Less than a year

Excellent, the difference between the freelander and the freelander 2 is huge, such an improvement and like driving a small range rover. Very pleased and impressed

Cost: 5/5
2004-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

In 4 years ownership have had to replace a failed window mech and fuel pump.. Fuel economy is much better on long runs. genuine land rover parts can be expensive.

Cost: 4/5
2011-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

I have not had to return car to dealer since purchase in 2011 apart from annual service. Average costs, although servicing expensive compared to some other makes.

It's a love/hate relatinship - it could have been so good if only things hadn't broken ... also, dealerships are unhelpful and very expensive for servicing.

Cost: 2/5
2013-reg Diesel, Owner for less than a year

Not long enough to get a good indication. Good fuel economy . main dealer service costs a bit high but shopping around can get that down to reasonable cost.

Cost: 4/5
06-reg Diesel, Owner for Less than a year

The freelander is a great car. Its small enough so i can still get into those small parking spaces, and its quite economical. A great little 4x4

Cost: 4/5
2004-reg Diesel, Owner for more than 5 years

I have experience very little trouble with this car apart from fair weat and tear - even then just minimal. Spares can be a little pricey.

Cost: 3/5
2003-reg Diesel, Owner for less than a year

Not owed it long enough to tell but no problems so far. With tax at ł270 and getting variable and poor mpg its not the cheapest to run.

Cost: 2/5
2007-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

Never let me down in 85000 miles. Poor fuel consumption, now out of warranty a local garage carries out sensible prices dervicing.

Lots of trouble with injectors when I bought it that dealer had to sort out. been ok since though. Road tax is too expensive.
