4.6 HSE converted to LPG . The cost of running this vehicle has been similar to a 2 litre petrol auto. When I purchased this car itm had a number of faults which were easily cured. This vehicle was used as daily transport commuting from home to school on school days [ Round trip of about 40 miles] and at least two journeys to the south of France trips of around 2500 miles. I repeat reasonably good on fuel cost approvimately 30mpg on cost equivalent on LPG and extremely comfortable for four people and their luggage.

Gorgeously comfortable, lots of power, extremely cheap to run on LPG however, usual Old Range Rover problem, overheating. Due to the LPG having been fitted, the standard Land Rover garage cant work on the engine.

Have been witout it for two weeks so far, am a little dissapointed but I was aware of possible problems so its not the end of the world. I must say though, its alot nicer than having to catch 5 busses a day. This evening I had to walk 2.5 miles in the snow. I still love it though, just needs some TLC.

Occassional electrical problems. the electric management system is sensitive to "interference" from mobile phones and other systems using microwave technology, but having said that, it's been fine for a while. I converted it to use l.p.g. and the cost of the fuel with the returns from the vehicle equate to approx. 36mpg. spare parts are no more expensive than a modern car, it's just that it has a few more parts!

2010-reg Diesel, Owner for less than a year

Despite being 2 years old, already a few things going wrong such as audio system, air suspension and seams and seals - windscreen has already had to be replaced and not fitted properly so makes lots of noise at high speeds. keys already broken with one drop. Extremely expensive to replace/repair parts as well as average servicing costs, but it is a range rover so was expected.

2008-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Generaaly good, had wheel bearing under warranty and turning wheel stud resulting in new hub ł150 + fitting otherwise only servicing. For the vehicle economy is good, servicing is expensive at dealer as you pay for the swanky showrooms. independants save more than 50% and still use lr parts. road tax is a rip off!!!

LandRover RangeRover. Very expensive tractors.
Can't help but love them & hate them. The comfort and joy of driving these 2+ton masters of 4X4 seems to out weigh the bloody annoying expence of keeping it running. But no doubt one day I'll be out priced, out of cash flow and out of petrol. Hello electric.

Absolutely fantastic vehicle and lives up to it's reputation. reliable, comfortable, classy and safe. Happy with vehicle but fuel economy could be a lot better and annual tax rate is really high compared to the same vehicle, which is registered in march of the same year. can't understand it.

I've "up-rated" the receiver that was causing battery drain and has been ok ( found resolution on specialist marque websites). Lpg 60% the price of petrol but is quite thirsty ( 17mpg on gas) and tyres more expensive( due to the increased size). otherwise parts are quite comparable.

Suspension can be slow to pump up if it has been left more than a week .occasional error messages on computer which need sorting. As expected, they are not cheap to run, but we do not use it as a runaround, more as a luxury car for longer journeys.

I love it. It's a bit old now, at ten years and 106,000 miles, and a few things need tightening up but, hey, I'm the same. My next car will be the newer model Range Rover, still petrol and still V8. It's what I like and there's nothing like it.

Its been brilliant nothing has ever gone wrong in 10 years and its actually still on the original exhaust system which is now 13 years old, unbelievable its the best car I ever owned. Well for a 2.5 tonne car I guess its not bad about 25 mpg.

A duff battery the only thing that has let me down totally, age and complexity of vehicle means some ancillary items do not always function eg cruise, air con. Fuel for a petrol v8 is ok, spares cheap, I ns cheap.

2007-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

The worst landd rover I have owned to date. turbo failed, calipers seized, suspension clonk not fixed despite replacing ace unit suspension arms arb bushes. Expensive parts catalogue and servicing charges.

1990-reg Petrol, Owner for more than 5 years

As it's a 21 year old car, I expect failures. however you don't have an old range rover if you can't tinker competently! I've modified a few things and improved fuel consumtion from 11mpg to 18mpg.

2009-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Overall quite good, although there are quite a few minor niggles that have to be dealt with, one being the fact that the parking sensors failed. Fuel and parts from dealer are very expensive.

Excellent long distance vehicle - best I have owned. Difficult to park. Newer model with rear camera probably much easier. Fuel consumption is poor but with low mileage this matters less.

Cost: 1/5
2005-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Had a fair few problems with it here and there but do expect it from a range rover. Quite expensive to run but then if you could afford one you can afford to run one.

High running costs, but surprisingly easy to maintain if you are reasonably useful home mechanic. Great car to drive, especially in bad weather.

Very comfortable, reliable with the exception of one small fault, which was fixed at the dealer. Dealer service very good, but not cheap.

No problems since I have owned it. It is converted to run on lpg, which in cost terms means it gives the equivalent of around 28mpg .

No problems in 8,000 miles. Not done enough miles to comment, however to date mpg is excellent for size and power.

Niggles - suspension faults, brakes sticking. new gearbox fitted at 3 years. Mpg too low. tax and insurance high.

Cost: 2/5

No issues or breakdowns, however servicing brings large bils. Fuel costs high due to mpg. tyres very expensive.
