Overall Average Rating: 83.94%
Position in the Top 100 cars: 61st

Given that the 3 has failed to gain a foothold in the ever more competitive compact family class, its mid-table set of results is fitting.

As you’d expect from a model based on a Ford Focus platform, the handling is above average, while 23rd in the reliability charts proves that Mazda could teach the blue oval a thing or two about making cars last…

Manufacturer Verdict (Position: 10th)

It’s fallen one place, yet Mazda is still in the top 10. The blot in its copybook is 23rd position for running costs, although it’s offset by a fifth-placed rank in both the handling and braking categories.

55-reg Petrol, Owner for Less than a year

It's a great little run around car. Even works well for long journey's. Recently drove it to scotland then the lake district and back from london and it performed beautifully! Coped very well in the snow and ice and gave plenty feedback to let me know when the the limit of grip had been or was about to be reached on the ice. Comfort was pretty good too. Five people in the car for most of the way - four people for the rest - and not a word of complaint about space. Only complaint I have is that my fuel consumption is fairly shocking, only giving me about 25mpg, where I should be running at around 42mpg. I think this might just be an issue with the engine management system not giving the correct mixture and have been quoted just under £60 to have it checked. Other than that I love the little guy - I've named him steve - and I think he'll be in the family for quite a while still.

After having a basic Punto for the last 6 years( with nothing going wrong till the last 1 year) We wanted to have a car with style & quility ( & a cd player!)
And our Mazda 3 has not let us down, a super car thats not part of the crowd ie Ford, Vauxhall...A car thats its does its own thing.....
And the wife says its king of the road

09-reg Diesel, Owner for Less than a year

Since I owned a mk1 Ford Capri in the seventies I have not enjoyed driving a car or felt as at home in the driving seat as I do in the Mazda 3 sport. I can honestley say that untill I drove the Mazda I thought the enjoyment I had for driving many years ago had left me for good.

A big improvement on the previous Mazda 3 Sport. Still not quite up to Golf standards but nearly there and much less expensive.
