Obviously we're going to have to wait for a UK roadtest but this C-class seems to be suffering that same kind of inverted banana shape that afflicts the CLA. With the swage-line bending down towards the rear lights you get a kind of 'droop' and, therefore, that loss of athleticism inherent in the latest 3-series' shape.
Trying to squeeze an S-class look into the wheelbase of a C-class is a mistake which both Audi and BMW will be appreciative of ! And who's betting the cabin plastics that look so good in the pics are nowhere near Audi's ? Gone are the days of hewn-from-granite Bruno Sacco designs: instead, welcome to Blingtastic Benz of the 21st century......
agreed that it has an element of the Merc CLA, but also a little maserati quattroporte thrown in
Interior looks decent enough...except for that pathetic 'tablet' stuck to the dashboard like some cheap after-market add-on.
Car looks Retro instead of Futuresque. I had those tow ugly black spaces below the headlamps, a trend tastefully started by KIA and taken over by VW, and not this.
Interesting looking car, shocked at the number of reliability complaints listed in this discussion group. I do think they must be overstated in South Africa these cars continue to have a solid reputation in every direction. Styling is always an individual opinion and at this we are only seeing the car in pics I am pretty sure it will look good in the metal Mercedes cannot afford it not to. Interesting that they chose Renault for diesel power maybe they should also put a Renault engine in their Formula 1 car!
Touch screen this and touch screen that....... I must admit, this does not look cool! Anyway, do you thinkI would be ablt to fit a toddler car seat in there?? The word slope is worrying me a bit! Very good styling though, far better than the dull looking Audi's and BMW's!
MB design is going to help BMW sales no end
I think mercedes have lost their identity! With the mercs of old you took one look at it and instantly you could tell it was a Merc but with these latest incarnations they may as well be a Hyundai or Kia.
just when the germans were starting to compete in the world markets with somewhat attractive cars to go with their engineering ...... then mercedes comes out with this contraption of a c-class . audi and bmw are going to clean house on sales and leave merc behind . the interior looks like a mix of corvette and mustang design , while the exterior takes cues from an older hyundai (rear) and a piece of the new cla (front) . the side view is utterly unattractive .....
I must say, I instantly dislike the looks of this car! I agree on what BertoniBertone has said. But I guess Merc will have to find out the hard way...
The rear isn't a million miles away from the Peugeot 508
.... and VW's and Audi's
Will Merc upgrade the cheap & tacky plastics/materials used in the previous version? Doubtful. (Kia produce better quality interiors). Also, there's no escaping that disastrous after thought - the precarious, "stuck on" screen. It's totally out of place, and could easily pass for the cheapest available tablet, on sale two years ago, in a budget high street shop. Putting the interior to one side, at least the looks are beginning to make more of a statement (not to my taste), for what at the end of the day is a ridiculously over priced family car (Come on Mercedes, this car should have a starting price of £19k (as per the Passat), not gasp!.... £26k!!!!!!! You're 'aving a laugh!!).
Cheap looking design at their normal low spec and expensive extras. MB price too much
A few years ago a neighbour placed an order for a new fully specked E class and collected it from the factory. $ years later it was riddled with rust MB gave it a respray and 2 years later it re-appered finally he got his money back. Stupid fool bought another MB again.
