Overall Average Rating: 85.41%
Position in the Top 100 cars: 51st

With the latest BMW 3-Series recording yet another top 25 result, this is disappointing for a firm that once prided itself on its engineering.

The C-Class does not do too badly in any category, but high running costs and poor practicality take the edge off. Main plus points are the ride and drive.

Manufacturer Verdict (Position: 9th)

Comfortably into the top 10, Mercedes has closed the gap on BMW. Third place for ease of driving and fourth for ride help, but the firm can improve on its 26th place out of 35 for running costs.

My C230K has proven to be utterly reliable but it was 'a typical Millennium car' for Mercedes and around £2,500 of repairs and was necessary, under warranty, to eliminate light rusting around the wheel arches, bonnet and some of the doors. The car should now have a normal life, 20 - 30 years. The first spot of rust appeared at 18 months and was repaired. I did not take ownership until 4 1/2 years and the rust broke out again and began to spread. It is a nice car to own and drive but I wish it had rack & pinion steering because its handling characteristics are not the best when travelling fast.

As the owner of a C63 AMG I think it's an incredible car; the performance is fantastic, it sounds amazing and it's good to drive. Build quality is pretty good and would be excellent for a £30k car; maybe less so for a £60k car.
As an ownership experience Mercedes are very good and always ask for feedback on their service standards. They are easily as good as my experience with BMW, if anything maybe slightly better.

For a Mercedes to fail the first MOT with 24000 miles on the clock because the brake disks had rusted away(normal wear and tear?) this after having the wheels and body trim replaced due to rust or blistering was the not to be expected. Now with 36k on the clock parts are coming loose ie bonnet catch which in turn set off the car alarm repeatedly during the night. next car mercedes I don't think

Great car for motorway driving eats the miles. I travel 3.5 to 5000 miles per month early starts and late night driving this car gives me the confidence to take on the miles after a full days work .

this is my 3rd c Class and is by far the best car I have ever used

It's very much improved compared with its predecessor; even better economy, smoother, a bit more power, better braking, lighting etc. but also in many small details - wipers, heating, cool glove box and so on.
Plus an excellent Command system.

having owned the car for just over a month i am still pleased with it, the style is good, the performance is excellent. However as it is my first Automatic RWD car i was surprised at how badly it coped in the snow and ice.

I was expecting more from the Mercedes, and certaily a low more from their dealers. Tha car itself is good, it perhaps could be better but the poor customer service just make me feel less happy about the car.

Decent, solidly built estate, adequate performance and economy. Let down very badly by 4 months off the road during first 18 months of ownership for persistent electronic failures. Not impressed.

The best car I have had, only a squeaky folding mirror took anything form an excellent car experience. Dealer support has been excellent. Long journeys are a pleasure.

Our C class is a 270CDI estate and does every thing we want in a car, you just get in and no matter how long or short the journey its no trouble.

A quality product, but in keeping with the current trends in technology, deprives the driver of much of the decision making, which I do not like.
