The CLS 500 is brilliant; makes every trip an occassion! Mercedes are superb cars however their dealer network is poor and the servicing departments even worse. Previously I had an S500 and they managed to put an 8" gauge down the bonnet (to bare metal) when they were giving it the first service. Also had problems with salesmen not being prepared to discuss a test drive in an E55 with me because I looked scruffy - a week later I turned up in a demo model that I had bought elsewhere!

Apart from the diesel glowplug problem (all 6 eventually replaced free even though they are "wear & tear items"), this car is so much better-built than the 2003 E-320 CDI it replaced. The steering is so sharp & accurate with great feel. The clincher though is that fantastic Michael Fink design which gets looks all day long & makes you happy to be piloting such a timeless beauty.

This is my Fourth Mercedes and it certainly is the best I have ever owned.After sales service is exceptionally good.The main dealer cannot do enough for me and I am most impressed.So much so that I have a real brand loyalty now that I hadn't before.

Lots of rattles, one of which is recurrent (already fixed 3 times). Auto box had to be replaced under warranty after much aggravation with Mercedes

The car has surprising character for a car in thsi class. Not perfect but enjoyable to drive and own
