Y-reg Diesel, Owner for More than 5 years

i have been driving and owning cars for over 65 years and drove an average of 30000 miles a year. had everything from a austin to bmw's. this car is the best I have ever had and bought second hand , have normally bought a new car every 12 to 18 months. the comfort, performance and mpg it gives are amazing. it now has 106.000 miles on the clock and feels just as good as when i first got it. i will only buy \another merc.

2005-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Lots of problems which are very expensive to repair including front suspension ł1200, rear speed sensor, need to replace the driveshaft ł1200, inlet port shut off valve ł700, airmatic compressor ł700, all in less than 2 years. also starting to rust on wheel arches. Fuel economy is ok for the size and power in engine but repair bills are expensive. Great power and torque. tows without any problem.

Cost: 2/5
2011-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Nothing has gone wrong at all. The most amazing car I have ever had for running costs. on a run I can easily achieve 46mpg and that's very close to the manufactures claimed figures. even on lots of short runs I get close to 40mpg. so yes I am impressed because the claimed figures are usually 30% inflated. take my last car ( lexus 400h ) claimed 38mpg, actual 19mpg.

2006-reg Diesel, Owner for more than 5 years

The secret is simlpe. have the car regularly serviced by a main dealer. I have done that but admit it may be more expensive than a local garage. however I have not had any trouble during nearly seven years of use. I use top quality diesel fuel and when on long runs achieve more than 42 mpg. careful driving around my home area I still get an average of 30mpg.

59-reg Diesel, Owner for Less than a year

E class 350 CDI Avantgarde. Accelerator hesitation from standing start. You press the accelerator to join traffic and it can wait up to 2 seconds sometimes before anything happens. It is as if it is thinking what to do. Most annoying as my previous E class 270 CDI was OK. Ongoing. Mercedes to take another look after Xmas.

53-reg Diesel, Owner for Less than a year

It's a beautiful, spacious, fantastically comfortable bus. It's very well put together and I'm proud to drive it. Plenty of power yet still frugal with the diesel. Servicing and parts are more expensive than I would like even at independant specialists. Useless in the snow! Love it.

Cost: 3/5
2010-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Had some coolant system problems in the first 18 months, although covered by warranty, and seems to have settled now. Mercedes servicing expensive. Excellent torque in the 250cdi engine. the old mercedes auto box that came in my 2010 e-class is rubbish though.

Cost: 2/5
07-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Very capable car which has a good blend of performance with surprisingly good economy for a 2.2 twin turbo diesel engine. I am impressed with the overall engineering of the product after hearing about the pre 2006 facelift versions. It has been a great to own.

Cost: 5/5
-reg Diesel, Owner for More than 5 years

Very good fuel economy for the class. Expensive to maintain but high quality customer service. Rust has appeared on both wings and tailgate but replaced under long term warranty. No competition in terms of luxury practical estate and continental cruiser.

Cost: 3/5
2003-reg Diesel, Owner for more than 5 years

Very little done - heavy on batteries one or two failures in winter after standing for 2 weeks. Not much spect in 6 years apart from stereing knuckle joints not unusual but was surprised to have to replace two road springs recently.

Cost: 5/5
03-reg Petrol, Owner for More than 5 years

Great car - fuel economy is good given the 500+bhp on offer - consistantly returning 22 - 24 mpg. Nearly 150,000 miles now - I wonder if it's a record for an 2003 supercharged E55 AMG? Resale value is probably about £10 now though!

Cost: 3/5
56-reg Petrol, Owner for Less than a year

My car is a petrol E350 which makes it a bit of a guzzler but not too bad at 26 mpg. I only do 6000 miles a year so I can live with it.At last MB are back to making a solid reliable E Class. These cars are great value s/hand.

Cost: 3/5
2007-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

I can rely on this car like you can rely on an ambulance, it will always get you where you need to be. Could be bit more economical, yet its a powerful v6 so the balance of power an economy is acceptable.

Cost: 4/5
2010-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Very solidly built car feels like it's carved from granite. On motorways runs and longer aa road journeys can achieve mid 50's mpg. Strong assured pulling power smooth delivery relaxed driving pleasure.

Cost: 4/5
2005-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

4 years ownership and only one "red indicator" message. merc came out within 3 hours and left us a brand new e class to use whilst ours repaired! A car like this is never going to be cheap to own/run.

Cost: 3/5
1994-reg Petrol, Owner for more than 5 years

I could not think of a better car for reliability. In the time I have had car all it as cost me is tyres, battery , rear break pipe and exhaust. in town running I average 26 mpg on a run up to 35 mpg.

Cost: 3/5
2002-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Things fail, like bushes etc, but the car is over 10 years old, so it's to be expected. It's much better since I fitted a tuning box from tdi-tuning.co.uki get about 9mpg more on average. :-).

Cost: 3/5
2010-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Great, feels solidily built like mercedes used to be, have had audi's for years but now gone back to mercedes. Happy, it's a large very roomy luxury car and easily returns 56 average mpg.

Cost: 4/5
08-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Very good - Mercedes service is excellent - but there isn't a cheap E class.

I've had Volvos & Saabs which were cheaper initially but their servicing costs were considerably higher.

Cost: 3/5
1998-reg Petrol, Owner for less than a year

I haven't owned it long enough to say but so far so good. Mpg isn't great but is acceptable given the size of the engine. I have had to buy four new tyres which was a bit of a shock.

Cost: 3/5
59-reg Diesel, Owner for Less than a year

Bit early to tell, but really happy so far. The new model, in my opinion, is not as good-looking as the previous model, which I owned. But the technology is brilliant in comparison.

Cost: 5/5
1995-reg Petrol, Owner for more than 5 years

Never had any major problems since buying, only repair was awater pump. Servicing is very expensive, and fuel costs are high, but no more than would be expected, being 3200cc.

T-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

Comfortable, practical, reliable and very economical on the motorway. Not sparkling performance, but acceptable for a heavy car with a diesel engine and auto transmission.

04-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

Very ggod comfortable car; to reduce servicing costs, I go to an unfranchised Merc edes specialist and then pay for breakdown cover with AA separately (still cheaper).

Cost: 3/5
2011-reg Diesel, Owner for less than a year

No problems experienced since purchasing the car. Servicing and insurance costs are acceptable for this type of car. slightly better fuel economy would be appreciated.

Cost: 3/5
2008-reg Diesel, Owner for less than a year

I was able to access car service record through dealer who has looked after the car since new. Spare parts are reasonable but main dealer labour costs are excessive.

Cost: 3/5
2011-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Since I purchased the car there have been no faults at all. Its a mercedes and although nothing has gone wrong yet one assumes that parts are on the expensive side.

Cost: 3/5
2011-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Sometimes I think it's too fancy for its own good eg dpf issues. Drinks the diesel despite all my efforts to economise; service and parts very expensive.

Cost: 2/5
2011-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Great! If I drive a long way, say for 500 miles on motorways here of on the continent and do not exceed 70mph, I get 50mpg, that's good for an e350cdi.

Cost: 5/5
2012-reg Diesel, Owner for less than a year

Not one issue so far. So far not serviced it yet so cant comment on this hopwever I'm surporised at the mpg that the car cahieves for such a large car.
