Chevrolet Corvette   GMC Sierra HD Concept   Dodge Challenger SRT8   Lexus LS600h
1. Chevrolet Corvette

This stunning 1953 Corvette was the machine that gave birth to America's longest running sports car. Spot the latest C6 Convertible in the background.

2. GMC Sierra HD Concept

Big just doesn't describe the Sierra – it's massive. You could fit a Fiat 500 in the load bed! Power comes from a 6.6-litre turbodiesel with 1,037Nm of torque.

3. Dodge Challenger SRT8

With classic coke bottle proportions and head-turning stripes, the 470bhp 6.4-litre V8 SRT8 is a muscle car that looks fantastic and goes like a NASCAR racer.

4. Lexus LS600h

This mean LS600h is the work of tuning company Fox Marketing. It gets a bodykit with Glacier Green paint and some enormous split rims.

Scion Racing xD   Ford Mustang Boss 302   Ford Focus ST   Chrysler 300
5. Scion Racing xD

Toyota's 'youth' brand Scion always has a wide range of exciting models – like this rally-prepared xD.

6. Ford Mustang Boss 302

The Boss is back! The ultimate Mustang packs a 412bhp 5.0-litre V8 and upgraded suspension. Pictured here in Competition Orange.

7. Ford Focus ST

Mighty 247bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged Focus ST isn't new but looked great on Ford's show stand. It goes on sale later this year.

8. Chrysler 300

On sale here next year, the refreshed 300 has lost a little of its charm, but still stands out. Chrysler will offer the old grille as an option.

Ford Taurus Police Interceptor   Fiat 500   Buick Verano   Ford's new Focus-based family
9. Ford Taurus Police Interceptor

It wouldn't be an American motor show without a police car. This is the Ford Taurus Police Interceptor, powered by a 3.5-litre V6.

10. Fiat 500

The Fiat 500 is now taking on MINI in the US – it's a big hit, though it didn't cause as much of a stir as this original version.

11. Buick Verano

The days when US companies launched nothing but large cars are over – the Vauxhall Astra-based Verano was the star of Buick's stand.

12. Ford's new Focus-based family

By unveiling the Vertrek, two C-MAX hybrids and the Focus Electric at Detroit, Ford has spun 10 models from its new C-sector platform.
