The latest in a string of handsome SEAT concepts has arrived – and we had the chance to view it in the flesh the night before the Frankfurt Motor Show kicked off.
Called the IBL, it follows on from the IBE electric hatchback and IBX crossover concepts shown at recent expos. With virtually identical dimensions to the current Exeo saloon (a facelifted version of which also debuted in Frankfurt), it's clear that a production version would sit right at the top of the SEAT range – as the firm's president James Muir confirmed.
He said: "This car forms an important flagship for our brand, and displays quality and precision – the characters that distinguish SEAT from other manufacturers."
Under the skin, the IBL features a plug-in hybrid powertrain, although precise details were scarce. It's a clear signal, though, that SEAT – and the VW Group as a whole – is developing the technology.
