Lamborghini confirms Sesto Elemento

Lamborghini has announced plans to build the stunning Sesto Elemento. Speaking at the VW Group preview night ahead of the Frankfurt Motor Show, CEO Stefan Winkelmann eventually confirmed the rumours that the stunning all-carbon fibre supercar would make it to production, albeit in an extremely small run of only 20 vehicles.

"The Sesto Elemento is a vehicle in the making, yes we will build it," said Winkelmann. A spokewoman for the brand filled in some of the detail: "Besides a few very small details it will look identical to the concept car. It will be priced at €1.5million and be purely for track use, although if a customer wanted to homologate it for the road I don't see that being a problem."

Performance for the Sesto Elemento, which was originally unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 2010, will be nothing short of sensational. Featuring the same 570bhp 5.2-litre V10 as the Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale, revealed today, it will travel from 0-62mph in an Ariel Atom-rivalling 2.5 seconds, thanks to a dry weight of 999kg.

Its head-to-toe carbon fibre construction will be a first for the automotive industry and looks to establish Lamborghini as a leader in this area. Our sources revealed we should see the full production Sesto Elemento early next year.
