LIVE: Honda CR-Z at Geneva 2010

Prices announced for Japanese giant’s Euro-spec hybrid sports coupe

Honda CR-Z

March 2010

Honda’s eagerly anticipated CR-Z made its European debut at Geneva. Changes over the car that was unveiled in Detroit include LED daytime running lights and 2+2 seating. The official economy claims for the 1.5-litre engine are confirmed at 56.4mpg and 117g/km.

Buyers interested in getting their hands on the sports hybrid will only have to wait until Friday for the order books to open. The firm also confirmed that there will be three trim levels to choose from.

The basic CR-Z costs £16,999 and includes climate control, stability control and a six-speaker stereo as standard. An extra £1,000 buys the Sport model which adds cruise control, a multifunction steering wheel and electric windows, while the top-spec GT costs £19,999 and comes with heated seats, a panoramic roof and xenon lights.

Extended Test-Drive?

Clearly Honda will be requiring feed-back on how sporty its new little compact sports-hybrid will be, to the enthusiasts over a years average driving?

I hereby nominate myself and will even remove my beloved Civic Vti 3dr off the driveway to facilitate it!

Hows about it Honda UK?....Please, pretty Please!

Mr irfan Khan, Glos

I would love to be one of the first people to test drive honda's CR-Z, as I have owned honda's for the past 20yrs, each one I've driven over 110,000miles in. last accord I owned i nearly drove 300,000miles in. So over the past 20yrs you can imagine the total amount miles i've done in your very reliable product

so come on honda reward one of your most loyal customers...and give me chance to test drive your new CR-Z, who better qualified than a Honda owner???

Honda Dreams

Dear Mr Honda,

Now that the NSX and the S2000 are no longer being produced, could it be time for another Honda Sports-Car? Yes the CR-Z and the likely CR-Z MUGEN will fill the small and sporty/hot hybrid wishes very nicely...But how about a enthusiasts purely fun car, which is accessible to the masses?

I would love to see Honda do a spiritual successor to the Honda Beat and S2000, maybe a mid-engined eco-sports car that fits between the two in size? Using lighweight and easily recyclable body parts with a high-revving small petrol unit (such as a 1200cc that goes to 8000+rpm) in conjunction with IMA and stop-start, to give impressive power-weight ratio in a very light car!

Hybrid ≠ Sports Cars

Interesting that fuel economy is mentioned but not relevant figures - this is not a sports car in any sense if you're selling on being eco-green rather than fast 'round corners!

If you mention everything under the sun - why not the WEIGHT ???
