Infiniti's first hybrid at Geneva 2010

Nissan's luxury division reveals first petrol-electric model.

Infiniti M35 Hybrid

March 2010

For Infiniti the possibilities are endless! After teasing us with the Essence concept at last year’s Geneva show, the up-and-coming luxury arm of Nissan has revealed a petrol-electric version of its BMW 5-Series rival – the M35 Hybrid.

A powerful 3.5-litre V6 engine, coupled to a 67bhp electric motor with 270Nm built into the 7-speed automatic transmission all add up to a luxury car that should be both fast and frugal.

There are no performance figures yet, but expect equivalent performance to a V8-powered 5-Series. And Infiniti has confirmed that it will go on sale early next year.

It wasn’t just the hybrid version of the M that was new, either. Geneva was the European debut for diesel and petrol powered versions of the luxury saloon, too.
