This car looks futuristic, but what puts me off the most is that it's called Chrysler here, but Lancia somewhere else. This is NOT a Chrysler. A Lancia should stay a Lancia.
Having owned a Chrysler Alpine, Chrysler Horizon and Fiat Strada, I'm not looking for a car that combines the defining factors of each brand, poor build quality, unreliability and rust!
OK - I accept that things may have developed a bit since my 1980 nadir but Chrysler has never had a strong image in the UK. This car looks Italian and stylish. Who will want it if you put the frumpy Chrysler badge on the front.
I don't know which has the worst name in the UK.Chrysler or Lancia.
The design looks dated and as for the name.
I guess, yet again, you'll be buying this on price alone.
Lancia is such a recognised name for rust and unreliability but its simply a wanted car brand by people. Its just a shame that Fiat can't give Lancia a proper make over giving it the pedigree today it was born with and aim it for UK market as a true Lancia, but all we get are these ugly looking mutts.
This is LUXURY for a small car! I like the innovative and creative Design of the rear pillar, the way it meets the roof. Nice alloys too. Id much prefer it as a Lancia however I like the Chrysler Marque still quite desirable in it's own American way.
I totally agree, JPW201. Beautiful Lancia totally ripped off by the Chrysler badge.
Idk who's badge is on the front, it's hideous. At least Lancia's of old had character, even if they did fall to pieces once you got one home from the dealer. As for Chrysler, the only European models of note were the Lotus Sunbeam, and my Dad's old '180', which was a decent if unpopular choice for its day.
The name is simply an extension of the Lancia tradition of naming their cars after letters of the Greek alphabet! The joke is that the Italian alfabeto does not use Y (called ipsilon in Italian). This is a Fiat of course - a Grande Punto probably - but with the purity and integrity of the original Fiat styling messed up with a grotesque Chrysler Aptiva grille at the front and that strange tongue shaped hatch from the Italy-only Lancia Y10 at the back. For those of you with short memories, in the last year Lancias were actually sold in the UK, they sold FOUR cars, because many examples of the Lancia Beta Cortina-rival literally rusted away inside two years! Chrysler may not have the greatest reputation in the UK, but it's streets ahead of the Lancia name!
It's clear you hate Lancia's so why comment? I tell you I'd rather see Lancia's back in the UK than the sheer mediocrity we have at the moment! Give credit where it's due, Lancia's have style, class and charisma which is lacking in many other makes! Im tired of looking at common bland ugly cars.
Just like to add, Lancia's are very popular and well respected in Continental European Countries likes Holland, France, Poland, Germany and of course Italy. The UK it seems still has this, like yorself Ironic, 'this backward Island mentality'. So do yourself a favour, don't get sucked in by the UK media just be independent and single minded!
It really is a disaster that the proud Lancia nameplate now appears on the front of mediocre American tin like the Chrysler 300 and 200, rear wheel drive or not.
This great Italian marque might as well be pronounced dead I should think.
Even the recently introduced new Ypsilon is not going to help much to revive Lancia.
It doesn' t look half as good as its forerunner, the styling of the new one is actually dreadful, just look at the car's grille which could have come from the equally horrible Chrysler PT Cruiser.
It's time for Lancia's obituary!
Trust me, everybody in France, Portugal, Poland, Italy, Holland are buying Lancia's! It's the UK and people like yourself which has an ignorant backward perception of Lancia's. So bye bye takata.
Dear JTravolta, is it absolutely necessary to be rude?
I even agree that people of good taste buy Lancia's, that is, real Lancia' s as far as some of FIAT's underpinnings which can be found on modern Lancia's can be considered 100 % Lancia.
And yes the beautiful but now alas defunct Thesis was a real Lancia, so was the Ypsilon which is now being replaced.
Both fully deserved to wear the proud Lancia nameplate on their classic grilles.
But this is not the case with the Lancia badged Chrysler 300 that Mr Marchionne has ordered in production because this one can never be called a real Lancia.
And that' s what I meant to say in my comment on those Lancia badged Chryslers being no more the real thing and that it could eventually mean the end of Lancia as an italian brand.
And calling a Lancia Delta a Chrysler in the UK and in the US is not doing this Italian marque much good either is it?
So, JTravolta instead of calling others ignorant and backwards, maybe you should learn to read other people's comments more carefully in order to better understand the meaning of it instead of getting personal.
There's no need to be course really even when you don't agree with other 's opinion.
So it doesn't need the likes of people like you slagging them off. Actually all Car Makers worldwide are platform sharing and collaborating, does it matter? Actually I saw some Chryslers and a Dodge this week, take a closer look you'd be surprized at the quality, creativity, passion of these cars. You know, people look too much at badges and not the car itself and too easily dismiss American Cars.
......so it doesn't need the likes of you....etc. well Travolta before you post comments, maybe you should learn some manners first instead of calling people names if the humor doesn't suit you.
Your rantings are not just rude but actually pathetic.
Youre the pathetic one, with your outdated, backward, ignorant opinions and views on Lancia's and American Cars.
Well Travolta, you don't seem to get it do you?
Since good advice on the sort of language that you are using in your comments seems to be completely wasted on you, I will no longer bother.
For me this is end of story.
