Subaru is boxing clever! The Japanese firm has unveiled its ‘boxer sports car architecture’ at the Geneva Motor Show. And although the concept is purely to show the new engine, suspension and platform, the plastic body of the show model hints at the finished look of the striking coupe.

The rear-wheel-drive platform will underpin both a new Subaru coupe and the production car that finally emerges from Toyota’s FT-86 concepts – the second of which also debuts at the Swiss expo.

Both the Subaru and Toyota models are expected to boast similar coupe bodystyles, and will share Subaru’s latest flat-four boxer units, which can be mounted lower down in the engine bay, lowering the centre of gravity, as shown by the concept here.
