Lamborghini will take its fair share of the limelight with its new Aventador supercar at Geneva. But Swedish firm Koenigsegg isn’t one to be outdone, and has launched a specially-uprated version of its Agera supercar.

Called the R, the new car costs £875,000 and is powered by a new 5.0-litre twin-supercharged V8 engine. When the car is fuelled with E85 bioethanol, the engine produces an incredible 1,115bhp – up from 940bhp if conventional fuel is used.

Tipping the scales at just 1,350kg, the Agera R will sprint from 0-60mph in around 3.0 seconds and hit over 250mph, thanks to specially-developed Michelin tyres. The car also features a clever twin-clutch gearbox and an advanced suspension system to make all the available power manageable.

The car shown at Geneva has been bought by a wealthy skiing enthusiast who has paid an extra £17,000 for a custom ski box. The Agera already features a removable roof, which can be stowed under the car’s front bonnet. The ski box has been made as an integral part of a removable roof section, so you can simply swap the ski-box roof for the standard one once you reach the pistes.
