SEAT Ibiza facelift

The 2012 SEAT Ibiza has been unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show

March 2012

The facelifted SEAT Ibiza supermini has made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

The front end has been redesigned to fit in with SEAT’s new design language – seen on the firm’s most recent models like the Alhambra – so the grille has been stretched and the headlights are now more angular.

Meanwhile, SEAT has simplified the climate controls and improved a few of the cabin materials for a more classy feel. The dials are now clearer and there’s a larger glovebox too.

Underneath the bonnet, most of the engine line-up has been made more efficient. The 1.2 TDI Ecomotive model in particular has seen CO2 emissions fall from 92g/km to 89g/km and fuel economy increase from 80.7mpg to 83.1mpg.

For the first time in an Ibiza, SEAT is now offering the estate ST model with a powerful 1.4-litre twin-charged petrol engine. The Ibiza ST FR will accelerate from 0-62mph in 7.8 seconds and on to a top speed of 132mph.

The new Ibiza is due to go on sale in spring and is likely to command a slight premium over the current model.

Fabia vRS Pretender

So the new Ibiza ST FR does 62 mph in 7.8 secs and 132 MPH from its 1.4TSi engine. Wow, rather save a grand and buy a Skoda Fabia vRS Estate and with the same engine have 140MPH performance and 7.3 secs to 62mph time. Skoda looks better too - notice SEAT have pinched the vRS bumper and colours too.....

Pretty, but will never be a big seller

Which I guess is no bad thing, but with rivals like the new Peugeot 208 (my new favourite car!?) it will struggle to find buyers, shame, cos it's a good car.

Looks cheap

Only people getting a mega deal are going to buy this car. IMO I think it looks more like a skoda than a skoda does. there is plenty of cars to choose from in this class & I would put this last on my list.

Looks Good!

Cant wait to see it in the flesh. The Ibiza always drives well too and holds it value better then most in the class. Looking forward to the new Toledo and Leon even more now!

Cheap and nasty

It looks exactly the same. Plus the green colour is hideous.
