This is the Cadillac XTS - a new range-topping luxury saloon that will rival the BMW 5 Series and the Audi A6.
It is based on a heavily modified General Motors Epsilion platform, which underpins the Saab 9-5 and Vauxhall Insiginia, with extra length added at the rear to improve seating and luggage space.
Available in front-wheel drive with the option of four-wheel drive, power comes from a 3.6-litre 300bhp V6 petrol engine which features a six-speed automatic transmission. It gets 19-inch alloy wheels, but to ensure a comfortable ride, the XTS also has magnetic, adaptive dampers.
While the outside is pure Cadillac, with a dramatic grille at the front and boat-like proportions, inside it's a real gadget-fest. Firstly, the XTS debuts Cadillac's CUE infotainment system, featuring an Apple iPad-style touchscreen on the centre console. This can be upgraded to 12.3-inches on certain models.
Equipment levels are very generous, with adaptive cruise control, active brake assist, a blind spot warning system, lane-departure warning and adaptive front lighting available. At the moment, there are no plans to bring the big Cadillac to Europe.

I love Cadillac design and the interior looks inspiring. I wish we had this in Europe cause I refuse to be another Benz, Bimmer, Audi driver.
From the rear I'm reminded of the last version of Nissan's ubiquitous minicab. I think the current CTS is a much better looking car - and it's readily available in right-hand drive in the UK.
If thats what the future of GM looks like in the USA then God bless GM! Wheres the elegant innovation and dynamic flair? Up and gone?
The Buick range - especially thise built by SGM in Shanghai - look better and cost a damn sight less!
At this pace since their bankrupcy GM will soon be deservedly overtaken saleswise by HYUNDAI and KAI!
Even here in Europe GM in spite of much thinking but no decisive action still have too many factories and workers in relation to their production and sales! The future looks very dismal for OPEL in Rüsselsheim and Bochum etc.
They have got to bring it to the UK with an efficient low co2 diesel engine otherwise it is doomed to failure. I recently got rid of Caddy bl estate. Loved the way it looked but interior quality was crap but if the quality is upto scratch and as above would deffo buy. Lovely looking machine. Fingers crossed
The BL estate was nothing more than a Saab 93, average quality, average ride. Lets hope Cadillac was serious about competing in the upper class when making the XTS
What the hell does XTS stand for? You used, on a proper Cadillac, to get just one alpha and two numerics........V16. The rest was in the bag, they were beautifully crafted luxo barges, and you walked into the rear. This thing looks like 'just another car'. So what the badge says Cadillac. This car looks too high, and too narrow, and ungainly. But thats just my taste. Do you really want it in the UK?? The instant alternative to Germany's offerings must be the XJ surely.
