BMW’s sporty Z4 roadster is set to turn its rivals green with envy, thanks to the addition of a new faster, cleaner and more efficient engine due to join the line-up later this year.
Making its debut at this week’s New York Motor Show, the newcomer will be called the BMW Z4sDrive28i, with its power coming from BMW’s newly developed 2-litre engine, featuring the very latest in TwinPower Turbo technology.
Currently only available in the X1, the new twin-turbo four-cylinder petrol engine takes BMW’s EfficientDynamics programme to new levels. It delivers increased torque, improved performance and there will also be huge reductions in both fuel consumption and emission levels compared to the current 6-cylinder sDrive30i, which the new engine will replace.
Exact performance figures and prices are still unconfirmed and will be released closer to the cars launch date, later this year.
