It's the mightiest Panamera yet! Porsche’s new flagship four-seater, the Turbo S, made its worldwide debut at the New York Motor Show.
Taking the standard Turbo as its base, Porsche has uprated the 4.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 bumping up power to 550bhp, up from 500bhp in the regular Turbo. Torque also jumps 50Nm to 750Nm, but this is increased to 800Nm when the Sport and Sport Plus modes of the standard Sport Chrono Package are selected.
Thanks to launch control, the Panamera Turbo S can do 0-62mph in 3.8 seconds, while top speed is 191mph. Despite the upgrades, fuel economy remains the same as the standard Turbo, at 24.6mpg.
Standard equipment includes Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control, which actively reduces body roll in corners, Porsche’s torque vectoring system and a sports exhaust. Huge 20-inch alloys, a slight increase in rear track and new side skirts are also included.
To go with the epic performance is a suitably epic price – £122,623 when sales start in June.

Is it a 4 seat family car, or a true Porsche? With petrol costing £7 a gallon and that returning a meagre 25 miles I think this is challenged in the common sense dept. A run down to the south of France with the skis on top would cost you £400 in fuel alone and a year as a bosses car would be nudging 4 Grand for the shortest of commutes. Sure, not much if you earn megabucks, but who got rich by spending money. If you like the idea of a supercar - get one - two seats, massive engine and stunning looks. Lets face it, this is just a very expensive family car and a compromised design at best.
