Not to be outdone by BMW's new M5, Mercedes has given its E63 AMG a boost! Debuting at the New York Motor Show, the new model gets the firm's 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8, which currently powers the CL63 AMG.
Replacing the old 6.3-litre normally aspirated V8, the standard car has the same 518bhp - but a performance package sees total output go up to a whopping 549bhp.
Thanks to its smaller capacity, the new engine is far more efficient than the old 6.3-litre unit, improving fuel economy to 28.8mpg combined.
The new AMG performance package allows the E63 to do 0-62mph in just 4.2 seconds with an electronically-limited top speed of 155mph. This can be increased to 186mph if buyers opt for the AMG Driver's Package, which includes tuition at an AMG Driving Academy.
