The fastest Jeep ever made is here! Making its debut at this week’s New York Auto Show, and powered by a 465bhp 6.4-litre V8, the Grand Cherokee SRT8 will take only 4.8 seconds to sprint from 0-60mph and will keep going all the way to a limited top-speed of 155mph.
The SRT8 is just as impressive when it comes to braking too, with a staggering 0-100-0mph time of just over 16 seconds, incredible stats for a car the size of a BMW X5. All this extra power hasn’t come at the expense of efficiency either; in fact Jeep says that the new model is actually 13 per cent more fuel efficient than before.
Jeep is also making big claims about the SRT8's handling prowess, thanks to a new Selec-Track system, adaptive dampers, transmission and electronic limited slip-diff that all work together to improve driving dynamics.
Inside, the new SRT8 gets satellite radio, a DVD and MP3 capable stereo and steering wheel mounted paddleshifters for the standard automatic gearbox. There's even a heated leather steering wheel, plus heated and ventilated sports seats trimmed in Nappa leather and suede.
Prices for the new Grand Cherokee SRT8 are as yet unconfirmed, but should be released closer to the cars US on-sale date later this summer, but there's still no word on whether the storming V8 will reach UK showrooms.

Why does this read like an ad written by Jeep, even down to including a video that is effectively an ad written by Jeep?
Shouldn't Auto Express be a little more open about articles that they're being paid to write?
Still looks like the interior plastics are well below euro standards and are made from recycled lego, and the leather doesnt look like it ever saw a cow..
totally pointless for the uk market
Note both are driven by women... no doubt on the way back from school after dropping Tabatha and Josh off before popping to Waitrose???
def90cars
you must be from oop north or the midlands - this is the perfect car for the au pair or maid to pickup groceries from Waitrose. Tabatha and Josh will be be boarders and nothing less than Bentley will do.
A person of a certain stature do not sully themselves with motor cars from the new world.
If it's an advert the standard is also poor...I looked over a V8 ( ok not SRT ) at a dealer in Glasgow last week-end. And yes, it was rhd.
This is a fantastic looking piece of metal in SRT trim obviously with a Fiat diesel it will be very popular as they make some fine engines
