Is this the car that could turn Subaru's fortunes around? The new, fourth generation Impreza debuted at the New York Motor Show, ahead of UK sales kicking off in September.
Revealing sharper, squarer lines than before, the new model was revealed in hatchback and saloon form. The five-door is almost identical in overall size to the outgoing car, but the wheelbase is slightly longer, for more interior space.
Subaru debuted the car with a 148bhp 2.0-litre boxer engine driving all four wheels, which is claimed to return 41mpg on the motorway. Inside, there's a heavily revised cabin with better quality materials and a multi-function display for the trip computer.
Extras include Bluetooth, as well as iPod connectivity and satnav. More details about the UK-spec version will be released in the coming months but only the five-door hatchback will come to our shores.
