The DS3 Racing is ready for the off – after Citroen confirmed that its eagerly awaited hot hatch will cost £23,100 when sales start on 1 September.
That makes the newcomer £1,430 more expensive than a MINI Cooper JCW, and only £1,195 less than a VW Golf GTI. The DS3 Racing will certainly be exclusive, though – only 200 right-hand-drive models will come to the UK, each with a 204bhp 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine driving the front wheels through a six-speed manual box.
That means 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds and a 146mph top speed. Developed by Citroen Racing – which prepares multiple World Rally Champion Sebastien Loeb’s winning cars – the hot hatch gets new dampers and a 30mm wider track, and rides 15mm lower.
In addition, the brakes are uprated, with four-piston calipers and new front discs. The DS3 Racing also has a unique bodykit, and is available in two striking colour schemes: Obsidian Black with a Sport Orange roof or Polar White with a Carbon Grey roof. These shades are matched to the wheels, door mirrors, roof spoiler and grille, plus the double chevron badge.
The dash is finished in the same colour, while the cabin also gets sports seats, air-con, Bluetooth and an eight-speaker stereo with USB. Completing the package are Citroen Racing badges on the doors and a DS3 Racing tailgate logo.

Almost £1500.00 more than a JCW haha nice to see that the guys at citreon still have a sence of humour, i mean if you take into acount the residual value, performance and the fun factor of the Mini you wouldnt look twice at the ds3 let alone paying extra on top. (lol comedy)
I was expecting it to cost around £15,000.

When you have a car tuned by the Citroen Sport you are onto a winner. It's not a comedy car. So I wish certain Numpty's who say the car is a joke better think twice. The DS3 is a much better looking car then the Mini. Anyway if it wasn't for PSA BMW wouldn't have the engines in the Mini. A Mazda 3 is a poor car compared to the DS3 Sport and it loses more money than the DS3. It will out handle the Mazda no problem.
You don't really think that much about depreciation when buying this kind of car anyway, and considering the rarity of these I doubt it would be an issue!! To say you expected a price of £15k is delusional considering the DSport with the same engine but tuned to only 150bhp costs more than that.
As far as performance goes it should be more than a match for the JCW looking at the specs, and noone can comment on the handling yet without having driven one.
The DS3 wins over the mini in both the style and practicality stakes too, being a much more complete package! The Mini also tends to have a longer options list than companies like Citroen do!
The MINI is an accomplished vehicle, but its styling is familiar and, let's face it, everyone seems to own one these days! The DS3 is a distinctive car, and in this guise, a potent one too. The MINI Cooper JCW has some real competition at last, which can only be a good thing for the market niche. I am also pleased to see that Citroen have deleted the tacky stickers, and provided a less brash colourway with the Polar White/Carbon option. This car deserves every success!
Limiting production to two hundred is a clever way of saying..that's how many we think we can sell. If they thought for one minute they could sell four hundred...that's what they would make, £23k for a Citroen shopping trolley...got to be joking. Poor paint quality, ultra thin steel and french build quality...No thanks.
Limited production just means they will be able to protect the residuals well, meaning its unlikely a MINI would hold onto its value any better.
What the article above does not mention is that the DS3 racing price incl. VAT at 20% because deliveries will be made next year. You do have the option to pay this year and get the 2.5% off.
And sorry Barneym1979, the lovely stickers are still on the option list so we've not escaped them yet.

Ah yes, you see, Citroën are not about piling high, selling cheap with the DS3, and especially the DS3 Sport. They are trying to raise the game a bit and don't care if they only sell 200 in the UK. The DS3 is more than a C3 and this is one way to keep it that way. The only problem is they've already sold all the UK-allotted DS3s for the entire year. What a good problem to have. Really, only selling 5 of these things would not be a problem for Citroën. From what I understand though, they've already had in excess of 1500 interested customers. Now watch the residuals.

Sometimes i wonder about the writers AutoExpress. No offense but this story has issued before. I mean i was thinking that by now you will have more substance to the article and about the car. I mean describing the obvious things like you described before is not gonna change the story. The only new info is that theres two colours available, 6,5 seconds 0-100 sprint & 1.6 turbo unit. But the rest of the story you can just get straight from the pictures....
Anyway on the topic, i really like the seats and i imagine they actually push the price to the crazy price tag. But it would make a nice pocket rocket for my wife if she's crazy enough to wanna pay that for this small car.
I may have had a change of heart coz looking at the video i may be able to live with this baby. I also think that the steel could be ultra thin but i bet you'd make a whole lot of Golf GTi drive really obnoxious and bleak with this little manace :-)
