After a month of online teasers, Infiniti has finally taken the wraps of its brand new JX Concept. The three-row, seven-seat crossover previews the production version of the JX which will be unveiled at the LA Motor Show later this year, before it goes on sale next spring.

Offering class-leading levels of space and luxury, the JX Concept gets all the latest features and technologies. That includes a 14-speaker Bose stereo and Infiniti's recently launched Personal Assistant program - a service which provides owners with 24-hour access to a team of live staff who are at your disposal for everything from navigation instructions to booking you a restaurant. There is also a new technology called Back-up Collision Intervention, which allows the JX to detect any objects behind the vehicle, and if necessary, engage the brakes to help avoid a collision.

With its bold lines and the firms dramatic front-grille there is no mistaking that this is an Infiniti, and the thing that struck us, seeing it in the flesh, was the sheer size of the thing - roughly equal to a Range Rover.

Power for the JX comes from the same 326bhp 3.7-litre V6 which powers many of the firms cars and it comes mated to a specially sport-tuned CVT transmission, a first for Infiniti, there will also be the option of front or all-wheel-drive.

The market for such a large seven-seater crossover in the UK is extremely small, which is why there are no immediate plans to bring the JX to the UK.

Hyundai got there first

That kink/curve/whatever in the C-pillar window just looks wrong, it's just being different for the sake of being different, and maybe I'm wrong but to me it looks a lot like a beefed up Hyundai i40 estate.

Looks pretty good! Are they knocking on the door of Lexus with this pseudo off-roader? "Class-leading levels of space" but where is the market for such a vehicle. How often, if at all, would this vehicle have 7 adults strapped in to go very far? I mean, if its such a classy vehicle, why not 3 rows of two very nice chairs? Like the driver's and front seat passenger. That would be very comfortable, depending on how long it is.
In Oz Mazda [Infiniti's parent isnt it?] do it, with the CX-7 - a 5 seater, and the CX-9 - 7 seater. Hope the original body got a stretch because that third row would be 'Kid Class' only.
