Visitors to the event won't be able to see the exciting new addition in the metal, but the Cee'd concept that inspired the production version is on display. Codenamed ED - it stands for European Design - the stylish five-door hatch will hit UK showrooms in November. Estate and sporty three-door versions will follow in 2007.
Angled headlamps and a prominent grille dominate the nose, while smooth flanks, a gently rising shoulder line and a reverse-angle C-pillar add a sporty stance.
Four engine options will be available at launch. Entry-level models are equipped with a 1.4-litre petrol motor, while there is also a choice of 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre CVVT powerplants. Diesel fans will be offered a 1.6-litre VGT oil-burner.
The newcomer's name will be confirmed at the Paris Motor Show in September, when it makes its world debut. Prices have yet to be confirmed, but as the value-for-money Korean brand aims to undercut mainstream rivals, they are expected to start at £10,000.
