Mazda’s green bid sees RX-8 come of H

The groundbreaking Mazda RX-8 is at it again! As if the four-seater coupé's unique powerplant and barn-style doors aren't enough, the Japanese firm has now developed a dual-fuel variant, and it's coming here.

The RX-8 Hydrogen RE can swap between the alternative fuel and petrol to power its rotary engine, and is already available to lease in Japan.

Its European debut will be in Norway later this month - where the first hydrogen filling station has opened. James Muir, boss of Mazda Europe, said: "With several countries investing in hydrogen infrastructures, the RX-8 Hydrogen RE is a big step towards eventual mass production."
