Rookie Robert Kubica became the first Pole ever to take part in a grand prix at the Hungaroring – and made such an impact that he’s been rewarded with a permanent seat at BMW-Sauber. He’ll replace Jacques Villeneuve, who has quit the team and is rumoured to be off to NASCAR in the US. Kubica had an eventful race, outqualifying team-mate Nick Heidfeld and finishing seventh, before being disqualified. The youngster lost his points when his BMW was found to be 2kg underweight. BMW said it was because he had kept the same set of tyres on for 51 laps, causing them to wear down.
