Powered by a 2.0-litre TDI with 170bhp and 350Nm of torque, the saloon costs £18,370, while the estate (below) is £19,070. It's not as quick as the petrol Octavia vRS, but the diesel is cheaper to tax, as it sits two bands lower in the CO2 ratings.
