A new website promises to take your old car off your hands

Here’s a car company with a difference! Rather than sell you a brand new motor, it promises to buy your old machine from you instead.

The service will answer the prayers of motorists who can’t find a buyer for their model, or need to get their hands on money fast. Called Wewillbuyyourcar.com, it’s been running as a pilot scheme since April, and has already purchased more than 400 vehicles.

All you have to do is log on to the firm’s website and enter your car details. Once you have made a note of any scuffs or scrapes via the easy-to-use diagrams, the company will make you an instant offer for your motor. Accept it and you could have the vehicle collected and the money in your bank within days. The firm will call to arrange collection within 24 hours. It then sets up an electronic transfer of funds into your account – and the car won’t be taken before the money is in your possession.

A spokesman said: “Prices vary for different models, but we try to be competitive. While we might not be able to match a dealer’s part-exchange price, if you take our offer you’ll be a cash buyer for your new motor and better placed to negotiate a discount.”

If the appraisal carried out by the driver picking up the vehicle doesn’t match that submitted by the customer, the details are simply re-entered upon collection and a fresh quote submitted. Note that Wewillbuyyourcar.com deals only in models registered since 2001 (Y-plate onwards).
