Nearly half of UK's motorists drive when tired, says research

04th September 2006

The British Coffee Association (BCA) has been brewing safety fears after revealing 44 per cent of UK motorists continue to drive when tired.

Worst offenders were from Wales, where more than half of respondents admitted risking falling asleep at the wheel.

The study highlighted the dangers, with one in 10 road accidents caused by dozing drivers. BCA recommendations include taking regular breaks - and, of course, drinking coffee.
