This weekend’s Goodwood Revival promises to be the best yet, with a stunning £100million array of classic racers competing in anger with stars at the wheel.
Nowhere else in the world will you see such a spectacular selection of rare GT cars take their places on the grid, many driven by motorsport aces past and present
The annual event is far more than the world’s foremost historic car meeting. Staged at the famous Goodwood Motor Circuit in West Sussex, it’s a magical step back in time, and a chance for enthusiasts to revel in the romance of motor racing as it used to be.
The restored circuit is unchanged from its heyday, and great lengths are taken to ensure everything on the site is exactly as it was. All the officials dress in appropriate period clothing from the Forties, Fifties and Sixties, and each year more spectators and competitors get into the Goodwood spirit by following suit.
As ever, the one-hour, two-driver RAC TT Celebration race is the jewel in the Revival’s crown. Nowhere else in the world will you see such a spectacular selection of rare GT cars take their places on the grid, many driven by motorsport aces past and present.
This year’s mouth-watering line-up includes lightweight Jaguar E-Types, Ferrari GTOs, AC Cobras and Aston Martins. Drivers taking part include Le Mans 24 Hours winners Derek Bell, Jochen Mass, Richard Attwood, Jackie Oliver and Henri Pescarolo.
Also rolling back the years at Goodwood are F1 stars Sir Stirling Moss, Sir Jackie Stewart, Patrick Tambay and René Arnoux, Indycar legend Bobby Rahal plus touring car champs Sir John Whitmore and John Fitzpatrick. There are 15 other races on the three-day schedule.
