On sale early next year, it will kick off at around £14,500, with range-topping models peaking at £22,000. The SUV will be built at the firm's Sunderland plant, where 200 new jobs have been created. Inside the Qashqai, there is room for five, while the high-quality dashboard is similar to that in the smaller Note.
Under the bonnet is a choice of four powerplants: the entry-level 1.6-litre petrol and 1.5 diesel engines are available with a front-wheel-drive transmission only, while the 2.0-litre petrol and oil-burning motors have the £1,200 option of Nissan's ALL-MODE 4x4 system.
Bosses predict that around 17,000 Qashqais will be bought every year in the UK, making it the firm's second best seller after the Micra.
