Alfa 8C gets go-ahead

Alfa Romeo is reportedly ready to put its beautiful 8C concept car into a limited run production, according to reports from Spanish car site km77.com.

The two-seater coupe is widely based on Maserati running gear, from the 4.7-litre V8 to the suspension, and is reminiscent of the great TZ coupes Alfa made in the 60s.

The car will feature a six-speed paddle-shift gearbox, and will churn out 450bhp. Given that it's a carbon-fibre body over a steel chassis, that should mean lunch-endangering TVR-level performance.

Early estimates put the price at around the £70,000 mark, though with only 500 being made, it mioght be an idea to put your name down now if you want one parked in your drive for Christmas next year.
