Suzuki is aiming to make a Splash with its latest model

Replacing Wagon R, Splash has a bold nose and funky lines

Suzuki is diving head-first into the supermini-MPV sector with this model, the Splash. And following on from our spyshots in Issue 926, Auto Express can bring you the first official picture of the newcomer, which is set to replace the Wagon R late next year.

Getting its public debut at the Paris Motor Show, the Splash is sure to make waves with its striking lines. At the front, a big grille and large headlamps complete with bright orange indicators give a bold look. Meanwhile, neat details such as the silver A-pillars and roof, kinked-up C-pillars and bulging wheelarches help provide a sporty appearance.

With a tall stance and a platform shared with the Swift, there should be generous space inside for five, while the cabin design is said to mirror the exterior. An all-new 1.2-litre petrol engine should provide decent performance. When sales start in 2007, a price tag in the region of £9,000 is expected.

As well as the Splash, Suzuki will take the wraps off its top-of-the-range Swift at the Paris event. The Sport, driven in Issue 927, is powered by a 123bhp 1.6-litre engine, and goes on sale in UK showrooms early next year, priced at £11,500.
