As Auto Express's undisguised spyshots show in this week's mag show, designers haven't held back when creating their wild child. A deeply sculpted front bonnet and outrageous rear end are guaranteed to turn heads.

Power will be fed to the front wheels through a complex traction control system. The 1.6-litre turbocharged engine is used in the Meriva VXR, but will be tuned for even sharper responses and greater performance.

Set to be unveiled in European Opel trim at the Geneva Motor Show in March, Vauxhall will then make its own tweaks before launching the Corsa VXR in the UK next summer. The newcomer will only be available as a three-door, and will go head-to-head with Renaultsport's Clio 197.
