Avon Tyres has added two winter tyres to its range, aimed at high-performance saloons and SUVs

The maker claims that the Ice Touring ST for saloons has a specially designed asymmetric tread pattern, which promises to deliver superb grip and handling in winter conditions.

The newcomer is available in a range of popular low-profile 16 and 17-inch rim sizes, covering both H and V-speed ratings (130mph and 150mph).

Meanwhile, the Ranger Ice boasts an aggressive tread design developed to cater for modern, high-performance 4x4s. It features Avon’s patented ‘Snow Groove’ – a unique, serrated cut that provides extra traction on wintry roads. The high silica rubber compound helps maintain the tread’s flexibility to provide optimum road holding and assist in clearing snow from between grooves.

The Ranger Ice’s innermost two tread blocks feature straight grooves, which aid traction even further in adverse weather conditions. The tyre comes in T and H speed ratings (up to 112 and 130mph) and a wide range of sizes is available, including 15, 16 and 17-inch rims.
