Alonso moves ahead

The good luck fairy gave to Ferrari's Schumacher; now she takes it away

An anti-climax at the Japanese GP as Michael Schumacher retires due to engine problems and reigning champ, Renault's Fernando Alonso, takes the win. Ferrari's Felipe Massa was second and Alonso's team-mate Giancarlo Fisichella third. Jenson Button was fourth.

The eventual winner will be decided in Brazil in two weeks time. Full story in this week's magazine.
