Mercedes' R-Class hasn't bowled the car-buying public off their feet

Despite selling only 700 examples of the R-Class since its debut in April, Mercedes insists the model isn't a flop.

It claims the slow start was to be expected, and won't reflect future performance. "When first launched, pioneering cars such as the A-Class and M-Class had cautious early sales, but then went on to be very popular models," explained a spokesman.
