Subaru diesel on way

Japanese firm Subaru has begun tests on a mule fitted with a turbocharged 2.0-litre flat-four diesel engine.

Insiders say this will power the next-generation Legacy, due out in the first half of 2008. The new unit will be mounted on a 4WD platform and mated to a six-speed manual box.
