Mobile phone road rage is on the increase, as law-abiding motorists take action

Danger drivers who use their mobile phone at the wheel are being forced to change their ways - by law-abiding motorists who believe chatting on the go is unsafe and anti-social.

A number of confrontations have led many motorists to stop flouting the law. Police in Hampshire are investigating more than 20 cases of tyres being slashed and a note left on the windscreen reading: "Warning. You have been seen driving while using your mobile phone."

A study by retailer Car Parts Direct found 58 per cent of motorists felt intimidated by other road users if they made calls while driving. Earlier this year, research put the figure at 38 per cent.
