Even though it won't go on sale in the UK until next year, Volvo's new V70 estate has already been caught totally undisguised by a snooping snapper in this week's mag

The current V70 has long been a load-lugging favourite, but it hasn't been at the top of the class since 2002 - the last time it won the coveted Auto Express Estate Car of the Year award. With its new look and fresh underpinnings, the firm hopes the car can compete with sector leaders once again.
Sharing basic underpinnings with the recently launched S80, the V70 should offer hugely improved dynamics. What's more, the estate will benefit from many of the same executive interior features, including a floating centre console and high levels of standard-fit equipment.
Designers have played it safe with the styling. The high-stacking rear lights remain, but the shape of the tailgate glass is similar to the new C30's. While the front end has yet to be snapped without any disguise, it is expected to look similar to that of the S80.
Engines will also be shared with the saloon, and punchy diesel variants are likely to be the most popular, offering strong performance and economy.
