This year’s Wales Rally GB promises to provide a spectacular and star-studded night to remember in Cardiff’s impressive Millennium Stadium. Approval was granted to run an action-packed MPH Motoring Theatre during the live WRC special stage on Saturday 2 December.
Hosted by TV presenter and Auto Express columnist Tiff Needell and Fifth Gear’s Vicki Butler-Henderson, the 65-minute, high-octane extravaganza will see leading celebrities battling it out in what’s being described as It’s A Knockout meets Gladiators in a series of dramatic thrills and spills.
With much of the proceeds going to the foundation set up in memory of Richard Burns – the three-time Wales Rally GB winner who succumbed to a brain tumour last November – an all-star cast is expected. Although the final names have yet to be confirmed, invitations have been sent to a number of F1 drivers and previous WRC champions, as well as famous faces from other sports and television shows.
“It promises to be an unforgettable night for everyone,” confirmed event boss Andrew Coe. “This is fabulous news. Last year saw the Wales Rally GB take a historic step into the Millennium Stadium. We now want to build on that success by delivering a new show of unrivalled sporting excellence and automotive spectacle.”
Four-and-a-half hours of entertainment kick off at 5.00pm on the Satur-day. Tickets cost £12.50 for adults and £6.25 for under-15s. To reserve seats, log on to www.walesrallygb.com or call the hotline on 0870 060 1764.
