Speed cameras in Scotland could be phased out under a new safety initiative. Trials will begin this month of vehicle-activated flashing signs which target passing cars with a 'slow down' message and their reg plate.
If these successfully curb speeds, they could replace Gatsos, bosses at Lothian and Borders Safety Camera Partnership say. The units have already been installed on 15 stretches of road in Edinburgh and West Lothian.
