Survey reveals drivers’ M-way behaviour

08th November 2006

The Department for Transport Statistics report shows that accident rates on Britain's M-way network fell from 9,072 in 2004 to 8,619 last year. But 56 per cent of motorists were seen travelling above the legal maximum. The figures were calculated by measuring the speeds of all vehicles at 27 sites across the network.

The DfT report also showed one third of the cars put through their MoT test last year failed. The most common reason is still problems with vehicles' lights.
